DISCLAIMER: This calculator is to be used as a guide only. Different fabrics have different stretch characteristics depending on construction, type, knit, weave and coating — always confirm with a test fit on your frame system before production.

Enter the finished frame outside dimension and the fabric's stretch on each axis, then the SEG beading details from the profile drawing below. Tip: the frame can be rotated 90° against the roll — try both orientations (swap X and Y) and keep the one with minimal fabric waste.

1 — Frame & Fabric Stretch

IMPORTANT: The stretch percentages you enter are applied in full, so the calculator produces the tightest possible skin. If finished skins are too tight or difficult to fit, reduce the stretch % values and recalculate to give a more relaxed fit.

Weft (X) runs across the roll; warp (Y) along it. Stretch: use the percentages provided by your fabric supplier, entering 2/3 of the supplier's value on each axis so some stretch remains to fit the frame. Formula: supplier % × 2 ÷ 3 (e.g. 1% × 2 ÷ 3 = 0.67%).

Enter X and Y as the finished frame outside dimension. Measure each axis independently — weft (X) runs across the roll, warp (Y) along it. The frame can be rotated 90° to align its long side with either the weft or warp — choose the orientation that gives the optimal fit on the roll with minimal fabric waste, then swap the X/Y entries and stretch values to match.

The fabric spans channel-to-channel, then folds depth B into the channel with bead C. The strip of frame outside the channel (D) is never covered by fabric — it is subtracted from the frame outside dimension.
